Until Cleo (2004-2014) all our cats were indoor-outdoor
cats. Bogey, a smart black beauty, was our
son’s cat traveling with him and living wherever he went, then he moved to Queens where Bogey would not have been safe outside, and we
all knew that keeping him inside would be impossible. Bogey almost always got what he wanted. So Bogey was re-adopted by us. One winter we had a very heavy snow storm,
and the snow was piled up over two feet high on our deck, which was in the back
yard. The sliding glass door, through
which all the cats always went out and came back in, could not be opened
without a huge amount of snow cascading into the house. Regardless Bogey insisted on going out. He drove us crazy! Finally, I took him to the front door and
opened it for him. He went out onto the
covered front stoop. Unaware of the
depth of the snow, he jumped off the stoop into the snow. Imagine his shock as he sank up to his ears. He immediately began “swimming” around the house
to the back yard. It looked like he was doing the Australian crawl. I grabbed my camera and arrived at the kitchen
window at the same time Bogey made it to the deck. He jumped up on the deck railing, then
stretched his three-foot length to reach the kitchen window. This picture is what he thought of his
predicament! Of course we opened the
window and let him in.
